This American Life

"There's a theme to each episode, and a variety of stories on that theme. It's mostly true stories of everyday people, though not always. There's lots more to the show, but ... it's sort of hard to describe."  In short, great stories bound together by a single theme each week--something akin to an audio short story cycle.

Slate's Audio Book Club

The Chronicle of Higher Education Podcasts

The Chronicle has two podcasts: "Interviews" is a "weekly interview with a prominent researcher, college leader, or Chronicle reporter about big ideas in higher education," and "Tech Therapy" is an interactive "therapy session" about the "headaches, anxieties, and general problems you might be having with technology on your college campus."

Public Radio International (PRI)

PRI has lots of good podcasts.  "Selected Shorts" brings together short literary pieces or excerpts, read by the authors or other good readers.  "To the Best of Our Knowledge" is generally great discussion about intelligent themes.  There are many more.  Visit the page for details.
