The music major program is comprised of 39 credits of required music courses needed to transfer to junior standing at a 4-year institution. Therefore two options should be considered when planning for transfer to a baccalaureate institution.
OPTION 1: Choose to complete all music major requirements and all AAS degree requirements. This option will take extra time to complete, such as summer sessions and/or an extra semester to complete both programs. It is advised that students who elect this option carefully review the 60 credit (2 year) program requirements to complete the AAS degree.
OPTION 2: Choose to complete all of the music major requirements and some of the general education requirements toward the music major bachelor degree (see the suggested semester programs outlined below).
Music Majors should consult specific catalogs for additional specificity
in General Education distribution (breadth) requirements. Some four-year
campuses require auditions for placement. Consult the UW music faculty
for help in planning transfer, particularly regarding audition requirements.
