I am a Professor of English at the University of Wisconsin in Marshfield
and currently the campus Associate Dean. I teach a variety of courses,
including Intro. to Women's Studies, Violence Inc.: America and the
Film Industry and American Indian Film and Literature. In addition to
two edited collections, Creating Safe Space: Violence and Women's Writing
and This Giving Birth: Pregnancy and Childbirth in Women's Writing,
I have published a variety of articles on literature by women of color, on
horror films and on American Indian studies. On a recent Fulbright
visit to Singapore, I studied Southeast Asian women and their writing.
When I'm not working, I like to bike, read, and horse around with my two
kids and 150-lb. Newfoundland, Fiona.
I give my spare time to projects addressing violence against women and children.
